2 Days Off

It's Emmalin's first weekend off.  My mom and niece came up to see us on Saturday and we had a great "girls day" (as my niece called it).  Then on Sunday after my mom and niece left, I made Emmalin work a little (but nothing like she does in the intensive).  What was really amazing was that when I worked on sitting with her (we work on it for 20 minutes at a time)... instead of Emmalin just working on holding up her head up (like normal), Emmalin was able to hold her self up using her arms in the sitting position in addition to working on her head control.  Of course it wasn't perfect the whole time, but all in all, she did it!  It was SO exciting!

The other improvement I noticed was with her walking.  Normally when Emmalin tries to walk, she has a VERY hard time bringing each leg forward and bending it to take a step...well, this time Emmalin was bringing her right leg/foot up and bending it to step about 80% of the time (which is HUGE) and bringing up her left leg/foot about 20% of the time (which is still an improvement for that leg - it's her weaker leg).

So to see these kind of improvements after the first week is VERY encouraging!!  It makes me even more excited to see what she will be able to do after the next 3 weeks!!  We are beyond grateful for the opportunity for Emmalin to get this intensive therapy here in Columbia!!

God is SO good!!
